What happens if my mentor or mentee is not responsive?
Occasionally, mentor-mentee relationships face challenges due to communication difficulties, schedule conflicts, or mismatched expectations. SSHIA has processes to address these situations.

If your mentor or mentee is not responsive, follow these steps:
- Send a follow-up message through the SSHIA portal messaging system.
- If there is no response within 2 weeks, contact the SSHIA Mentorship Coordinator at mentorship@sshia.org.
- The Coordinator will reach out to the unresponsive party and attempt to resolve the issue.
- If the relationship cannot be salvaged, the Coordinator will facilitate a re-match with a new mentor or mentee.
SSHIA takes programme participation seriously. Mentors and mentees who repeatedly fail to engage without valid reason may be removed from the programme and will not be eligible to re-apply for one year.
Life circumstances can sometimes make it difficult to maintain the mentorship commitment. If you are going through a difficult period (illness, family emergency, work pressure), communicate this to your mentor/mentee and the Mentorship Coordinator as early as possible. SSHIA can arrange a temporary pause in the programme to accommodate genuine hardship.
