Women are underrepresented in health informatics leadership in South Sudan. SSHIA is committed to addressing this through targeted mentorship support for women in the field.

SSHIA has a dedicated Women in Health Informatics Mentorship Track that pairs women at all career stages with senior women mentors (and selected male allies) who can provide guidance on navigating gender-specific challenges in the workplace, building confidence, and advancing to leadership positions. The programme also includes group sessions on topics such as negotiation, work-life balance, and building professional visibility. SSHIA has set a target of ensuring that at least 40% of mentorship programme participants are women.
SSHIA also partners with international organisations such as the Global Health Informatics Partnership and Women in Global Health to connect South Sudanese women in health informatics with international mentors and role models. These partnerships provide access to a broader network of support and opportunities beyond South Sudan.
