What We Do
Driving digital health transformation through action, advocacy, and partnership
Our Commitment to Action
At the South Sudan Health Informatics Association, we commit ourselves to delivering concrete, measurable activities that advance digital health across South Sudan. Our work spans nine core activity areas — from convening national conferences to advocating for supportive policies and funding.
Our Core Activities
Nine areas where SSHIA creates impact
Conferences & Meetings
We prepare and organise annual conferences and meetings that bring together health informatics professionals, policymakers, and partners to share knowledge, showcase innovations, and set the national agenda for digital health.

We coordinate national and international programmes that connect South Sudan's digital health ecosystem with global best practices, funding opportunities, and technical expertise.
Governance & Membership
We maintain a strong governing board and actively recruit members from across the health and technology sectors, building a diverse and representative professional community.
Workshops & Seminars
We organise workshops, seminars, and conferences on digital health topics — from electronic health records and telemedicine to data analytics and health system interoperability.

Our Focus Areas
The thematic domains where SSHIA concentrates its efforts
Strengthening Digital Health Systems
SSHIA works to strengthen the digital health infrastructure of South Sudan by supporting the implementation of electronic health records (EHR), health management information systems (HMIS), and interoperable data platforms that enable seamless information flow across the health system.
We provide technical assistance, training, and advocacy to ensure that digital health systems are implemented effectively, sustainably, and in alignment with national health priorities.
Professional Development & Certification
A skilled workforce is the foundation of a sustainable digital health ecosystem. SSHIA invests in the professional development of health informatics practitioners through structured training programmes, certification courses, mentorship, and continuing education opportunities.
We also advocate for the inclusion of health informatics in university curricula, working with academic institutions to develop programmes that produce qualified graduates ready to contribute to South Sudan's digital health transformation.
Research & Evidence Generation
Evidence-based decision-making is central to effective health system strengthening. SSHIA supports and conducts research on digital health solutions, their implementation, and their impact in the South Sudanese context.
We publish findings, share knowledge through our platforms, and use evidence to inform policy advocacy and programme design — ensuring that investments in digital health are guided by data and experience.
Policy Development & Advocacy
SSHIA engages with government, regulatory bodies, and international partners to shape the policy environment for digital health in South Sudan. We develop national guidelines and standards, advocate for supportive legislation, and work to ensure that digital health is prioritised in national health plans and budgets.
Our advocacy extends to international forums, where we represent South Sudan's interests and connect national priorities with global digital health agendas.
