The Four Pillars of Our Mission

Our mission is built on four interconnected communities working together

Healthcare Professionals

Doctors, nurses, public health officers, HMIS specialists, and M&E experts who are the frontline users and champions of digital health tools in South Sudan.

Technologists

Software engineers, IT professionals, data scientists, and digital health developers who build and maintain the systems that power modern healthcare delivery.

Policymakers

Government officials, Ministry of Health leadership, and regulatory bodies who create the enabling environment for digital health to thrive.

Stakeholders

International partners, NGOs, academic institutions, private sector organisations, and community representatives who contribute resources, expertise, and advocacy.

How We Deliver Our Mission

Fostering Innovation

SSHIA creates spaces where new ideas in digital health can be explored, tested, and scaled. Through hackathons, innovation challenges, and research grants, we support the development of locally relevant digital health solutions that address South Sudan's unique healthcare context.

We connect innovators with the resources, mentorship, and networks they need to turn ideas into impact — from mobile health applications to interoperable health information systems.

Building Collaboration

No single actor can transform a health system alone. SSHIA serves as the convening platform that brings together the diverse stakeholders needed for systemic change — creating forums, working groups, and partnerships that align efforts and multiply impact.

We facilitate collaboration between the Ministry of Health, academic institutions, international partners, and the private sector to ensure that digital health investments are coordinated, complementary, and sustainable.

Strengthening Capacity

A sustainable digital health ecosystem requires a skilled workforce. SSHIA invests in people through training programmes, certification courses, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that equip health informatics professionals with the skills they need.

We advocate for the integration of health informatics into university curricula, ensuring a pipeline of qualified professionals for the future.
