How are mentors and mentees matched in the SSHIA programme?
The SSHIA Mentorship Committee uses a structured matching process to pair mentors and mentees based on professional goals, areas of expertise, and availability.

The SSHIA matching process considers the following factors:
- Professional goals: The mentee's stated development goals are matched with the mentor's areas of expertise.
- Career stage: Mentors are typically 5–10 years more senior than their mentees.
- Specialisation: Mentees with specific technical interests (e.g., DHIS2, clinical informatics, health data analysis) are matched with mentors who have relevant expertise.
- Availability: Mentor and mentee schedules are considered to ensure they can meet regularly.
- Location: Where possible, mentors and mentees in the same state or county are matched to facilitate in-person meetings.
Mentees are given the opportunity to review their proposed match and request a change if they feel the match is not suitable.
For the paid track, mentees can browse mentor profiles and request a specific mentor. The Mentorship Committee facilitates the connection and manages the administrative aspects of the relationship.
