What are the most important health informatics challenges facing South Sudan in 2026?

Connectivity and infrastructure remain major barriers, particularly in remote states. Without reliable internet and power, even the best health information systems cannot function effectively. Advocacy for infrastructure investment in remote areas should be a priority.

Human resource capacity is the biggest challenge. We do not have enough trained health informatics professionals to manage the systems we have, let alone implement new ones. SSHIA training programmes are making a difference but we need to scale up significantly.
