How can South Sudan learn from other African countries in strengthening its health information system?

Kenya has developed a strong health informatics ecosystem with multiple universities offering health informatics programmes, a vibrant private sector, and strong civil society engagement. South Sudan can learn from Kenya experience by investing in health informatics education and creating an enabling environment for health informatics innovation.

Ethiopia has made significant progress in community health information systems through its Health Extension Programme. The programme trains community health workers to collect and report health data from households, providing coverage data that facility-based systems cannot capture. South Sudan could adapt this model to strengthen community health data collection in remote areas.
