What is the importance of data literacy for all health workers in South Sudan?
Not all health workers need to be health informatics specialists, but all health workers need some level of data literacy. What does data literacy mean for health workers and how can it be developed?

Data literacy for health workers means the ability to: understand what data is collected and why; record data accurately and completely; interpret basic data reports and dashboards; use data to inform clinical and management decisions; and identify and report data quality problems. These are foundational skills that all health workers need, regardless of their role. Data literacy training should be integrated into pre-service and in-service training for all health cadres.
SSHIA has developed a Data Literacy for Health Workers short course that covers these foundational skills. The course is available online and in a face-to-face format and is designed to be accessible to health workers with limited formal education. Contact the SSHIA Training Department for more information about the course and how to enrol your team.
