How can health informatics training be sustained beyond donor funding in South Sudan?
Much of the health informatics training in South Sudan is funded by international donors. What strategies can ensure that training continues when donor funding ends?

Sustainability strategies for health informatics training include: integrating health informatics training into government-funded pre-service and in-service training programmes; developing cost-recovery mechanisms (such as training fees) that allow training to continue without donor funding; building local training capacity so that South Sudanese trainers can deliver training without international support; and advocating for government budget allocation for health informatics training. SSHIA is working on all of these strategies as part of its long-term sustainability plan.
SSHIA membership fees contribute to the sustainability of SSHIA training programmes. By joining SSHIA and paying membership fees, members are directly supporting the continuation of training and other SSHIA services. SSHIA is also developing income-generating activities (such as consultancy services and paid training programmes) that will reduce dependence on donor funding over time.
