The main barriers to e-learning in South Sudan are: limited internet connectivity (particularly outside Juba); unreliable power supply; limited access to devices (computers, smartphones); low digital literacy among some health workers; and the preference for face-to-face learning in some cultural contexts. These barriers can be partially addressed by: developing offline-compatible e-learning content; providing training on digital literacy as a prerequisite; using mobile-friendly platforms that work on basic smartphones; and blending e-learning with in-person sessions.
SSHIA is developing an offline-compatible version of its e-learning platform that can be downloaded and used without internet. This will significantly expand access to SSHIA training for members in remote areas. The platform will sync progress when internet is available.
