How can South Sudan build a health informatics research agenda?

A national health informatics research agenda for South Sudan should be developed through a consultative process involving the Ministry of Health, SSHIA, academic institutions, and implementing partners. Priority research areas should include: health information system performance and data quality; digital health implementation in conflict and humanitarian settings; health workforce informatics; and the use of data for health equity. SSHIA is planning to convene a national health informatics research symposium to develop this agenda.

SSHIA can play a coordinating role by maintaining a register of ongoing health informatics research in South Sudan, facilitating research partnerships, providing methodological support to researchers, and disseminating research findings through its publications and events. Members who are conducting health informatics research are encouraged to register their studies with SSHIA.
