Africa CDC was established in 2017 and provides technical support, training, and resources to African Union Member States including South Sudan. Key resources available from Africa CDC include: disease surveillance data and outbreak alerts; technical guidelines for disease prevention and control; training programmes for public health professionals; the Africa CDC Public Health Institute network; and the Africa CDC Africa Pathogen Genomics Initiative (Africa PGI) for genomic surveillance. South Sudan health professionals can access Africa CDC resources at africacdc.org. Africa CDC played a major role in coordinating the COVID-19 response across Africa and continues to support health security preparedness.
